Maple Lumber Storage: Protect, Preserve, & Ship with Ease.
Maple Lumber benefits significantly from secure and organized storage within a well-managed warehouse facility. Warehouses provide a robust, stable environment ideal for preserving the natural beauty and structural integrity of this premium hardwood. Strategic pallet racking maximizes space utilization, ensuring efficient inventory management and rapid access when needed. Proper stacking techniques – typically utilizing a ‘3-high, 4-deep’ method – are crucial to prevent damage from leaning or pressure. Warehouse storage offers superior protection against the elements, safeguarding lumber from direct sunlight, rain, and potential impacts. Regular inspection of the stored lumber is essential to identify and address any surface issues before shipping. The consistent, stable environment within a warehouse also contributes to maintaining the wood's dimensional stability, minimizing warping or cracking over time. Furthermore, warehouse storage provides enhanced security, protecting your valuable investment from theft or unauthorized access. A dedicated warehouse team can also assist with efficient handling and logistics, streamlining your supply chain and ensuring your Maple Lumber remains ready for immediate distribution.
Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, 20ft x 10ft area, Height clearance: 12 feet. Allow for 4ft access aisles on all sides of stacked lumber.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage is required. The area must be well-ventilated to prevent moisture buildup. Ensure the floor is level and capable of supporting heavy loads. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Special Handling: Maple lumber is considered a fragile material. Each piece should be wrapped in protective padding – blankets, moving paper, or foam – to prevent scratches and dents during handling and storage. Pallets should be used to minimize direct contact with the floor.
Stacking/Shelving: Pallet storage is recommended, utilizing standard 48” high pallets. Shelving units with adjustable shelves are an option for smaller pieces, but maximum stack height should be limited to 4 shelves (8ft maximum).
Access Requirements: Loading dock with a minimum 12ft wide access door. A clear aisle space of 8ft width is needed for forklift access. The door should have a minimum width of 10ft to accommodate standard pallet trucks. Ensure adequate space (12ft x 12ft) around the loading dock for forklift maneuvering.
