Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, ideally 20ft x 10ft, with a height clearance of 9 feet. Allow for a 5ft access aisle around each storage area.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage area with good ventilation. The space should be free from direct sunlight and away from exterior walls to minimize exposure to drafts. Regular inspections are crucial to identify any potential issues.
Special Handling: Plants are considered fragile. All plants require protective padding, such as bubble wrap or packing peanuts, during storage and movement. Individual boxes should be reinforced with cardboard dividers. Handle plants carefully to avoid bruising or damaging leaves.
Stacking/Shelving: Utilize adjustable shelving units with a maximum shelf height of 6 feet. Pallet storage is acceptable for larger quantities, with pallets spaced no more than 2 feet apart for easy access. Stackable boxes up to 36" high are permitted, but no exceeding 4 boxes per stack.
Access Requirements: Loading dock with a minimum 12ft wide access door. A clear space of 8ft x 8ft is needed at the loading dock for forklift maneuverability. Internal aisle widths should be a minimum of 5 feet for easy access and movement of personnel and equipment.
