Storage Conditions: Dry storage is essential. The area must be well-ventilated to prevent moisture buildup. The floor should be level and covered with a protective material like pallets to prevent damage. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Special Handling: Peaches are delicate and prone to bruising. Each case of peaches should be surrounded by protective padding – bubble wrap or foam inserts – to minimize damage during handling. Individual fruit should be padded with paper or foam.
Stacking/Shelving: Pallet storage is recommended, utilizing 48” high pallets. Shelving units with adjustable shelves are acceptable, but shelves should be spaced no closer than 18 inches apart to allow for easy access. Stacking should be limited to a maximum of three pallets high.
Access Requirements: Loading dock needs a 12ft x 10ft loading bay. Door width: 10 feet. Clear space of 6 feet required for forklift access. Forklift capacity should be no less than 5,000 lbs. Ensure adequate lighting within the storage area.
