Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, ideally 20ft x 10ft, with a height clearance of 9 feet to accommodate standard shipping containers. A secondary area of 50 sq ft (5ft x 10ft) is recommended for staging and temporary storage.
Storage Conditions: The area must be dry, well-ventilated, and free from direct sunlight. Surfaces should be smooth and easily cleanable. Storage should be on a level floor to prevent container movement.
Special Handling: Cell culture containers are fragile. All containers must be individually padded with bubble wrap or foam inserts. Containers should be labeled clearly with the cell type, date of receipt, and any relevant handling instructions. Items should be handled with care to avoid impact or vibration.
Stacking/Shelving: Shelving units with adjustable shelves are recommended. Shelves should be designed to support a maximum weight of 50 lbs per shelf. Stacking containers is permissible, but no more than 3 containers high is advised. Pallet storage is an option, but requires careful consideration of container size and accessibility.
Access Requirements: A standard 12ft wide loading dock with a 10ft door width is required. A minimum clearance of 8 feet is needed around the storage area for forklift access. Clearance space of 3ft around each container is necessary for handling.
