Protect Your History: Secure Warehouse Storage for Rare Maps.
Preserving History Through Secure Warehouse Storage
For the meticulous safeguarding of historical maps, a robust and dedicated warehouse storage facility offers the ideal environment. Our specialized storage solutions prioritize the long-term integrity of these irreplaceable artifacts, providing enhanced protection against physical damage and environmental exposure. Warehouse spaces are selected for their inherent structural stability – featuring reinforced flooring, secure access controls, and diligent security personnel – minimizing the risk of accidental damage or theft. Maps are carefully unpackaged and stored flat within acid-free tissue paper and archival-quality boxes, arranged to maximize space and prevent creasing. Dedicated shelving units and organized inventory management systems ensure easy retrieval and prevent unnecessary handling. The consistent, stable environment provided by a warehouse—characterized by regulated airflow and protection from direct sunlight—contributes significantly to the preservation of fragile paper and ink. Furthermore, warehouse storage offers cost-effective long-term solutions and secure access for authorized researchers and institutions, making it the cornerstone of our commitment to safeguarding these vital pieces of our past. Our experienced logistics team ensures meticulous tracking and handling throughout the storage process.
Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, with dimensions of 20ft x 10ft. Height clearance: 10 feet is recommended to accommodate stacking. A dedicated area of 10ft x 12ft is ideal for a single large map roll.
Storage Conditions: The space must be dry and well-ventilated. Avoid direct sunlight exposure. The floor should be level and clean to prevent damage. Regular inspections for dust and debris are necessary.
Special Handling: Historical maps are extremely fragile. Each map should be individually wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and placed in a protective sleeve. Padding with archival-quality foam is highly recommended for larger maps. Handle maps by the edges only, avoiding contact with the printed surface.
Stacking/Shelving: Maps can be stacked no more than three high, using sturdy cardboard boxes. Adjustable shelving units with a minimum shelf height of 4 feet are advisable. Pallet storage is possible for larger, rolled maps, but ensure proper support to prevent sagging.
Access Requirements: A standard 12ft wide loading dock is required for easy access. The warehouse door should be at least 8ft wide for maneuvering large map rolls. A clearance of 3ft around each shelving unit or pallet is needed for access. A secondary door of 6ft width is beneficial for emergency egress.

Historical maps require careful handling and preservation, and cubework storage spaces offer the perfect solution. Their sturdy construction and robust shelving provide a stable, secure environment, minimizing the risk of damage during transit and storage. The truly beneficial aspect is the modular design – you can easily adapt the storage to accommodate maps of varying sizes and quantities.
Flexibility is key; you can quickly adjust shelving configurations as your collection grows. Cubework’s individual units allow for precise organization and labeling, ensuring you can always locate a specific map. Furthermore, the open-front design maximizes accessibility, making retrieval simple and efficient. This adaptable system ensures your valuable historical maps are safely and readily available for research and display.
