Secure and Stable Storage for Precious Artifacts
Warehousing provides an exceptionally robust solution for the long-term preservation of archaeological artifacts, offering superior protection and stability for your invaluable collections. Dedicated warehouse spaces are designed for secure, organized storage, minimizing handling and potential damage. Selecting a facility with reinforced concrete floors and robust racking systems offers maximum structural support, crucial for safeguarding fragile items. Careful consideration of spatial layout is key – utilizing designated zones for different artifact types and employing appropriate shelving and padding ensures optimal arrangement. Regular inventory management and meticulous record-keeping are essential for tracking provenance and facilitating future research. Warehouse facilities typically boast enhanced security features including 24/7 surveillance, access control systems, and often, dedicated staff trained in handling delicate materials. Furthermore, warehousing’s inherent logistical capabilities – including strategic location and efficient access – provides convenient accessibility while maintaining a secure and stable environment for your significant archaeological holdings. The robust infrastructure and operational protocols of a reputable warehouse guarantee the long-term integrity and value of your artifacts.
Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 500 square feet, with an overall warehouse size of approximately 20ft x 25ft. Height clearance: 12 feet. Dedicated storage areas should be a minimum of 10ft x 10ft each.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage is required. The area must be well-ventilated to prevent dust accumulation. Surfaces should be clean and free of debris. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Special Handling: All artifacts require individual padding with archival-quality foam or bubble wrap. Fragile items must be stored in custom-fitted crates or boxes. Heavy items should be supported with bracing. Stabilization is key – utilize corner protectors and wrapping for all objects.
Stacking/Shelving: Items can be stored on pallets with a maximum height of 4 feet. Shelving units with adjustable shelves are recommended to accommodate varying artifact sizes. Pallet size: 48” x 40”.
Access Requirements: A standard 12ft x 12ft loading dock with a ramp is necessary. The main warehouse door should be a minimum of 10ft wide for easy access. A 6ft clearance space around each storage area is required for handling equipment. Forklift access is essential, with a clear path of 10ft.
